Now, we’ll show you how to do it, but do note that you won’t be able to keep it that way forever. At some point, Google will roll out the new design to everyone, and remove the old one, at which point you won’t have a choice. Still, if you don’t use Chat or Meet, and don’t like some other subtle changes, you may want to switch back. If you want to do that, read on. We’ll show you how to do it one step at a time, with screenshots. The process is fairly simple, actually.
How to bring back the old Gmail design
The first thing you need to do is open mail.google.com, of course. Then you should choose the account you’d like to make these changes to. Once you do that, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner.
Once you do that, a pop-up window will appear, and you’ll see the ‘Go back to the original view’ option. All you have to do is click this.
Now, in case you want to go back to the new design, for whatever reason, you can do that as well. Simply repeat the process of clicking on the gear icon, and select the ‘Try out the new Gmail view’ instead.
Toggle between two views freely
On top of this simple change, you can also toggle the two views easily, by going deeper into the settings. Let us show you how. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner.
Once the pop-up menu appears, you’ll need to select the ‘See all settings’ option.
You’ll be thrown into the first tab of the settings called ‘General’. The very first option there is ‘Main menu’, and under it, you’ll see toggles for ‘New view’ and ‘Original view’, with a short explanation of both. You can freely toggle between them here
Once you choose the desired view, confirm your settings by clicking the ‘Save Changes’ at the bottom of the page.
