The Google Pixel battery widget becomes more useful thanks to a new feature
This widget arrived last year to Pixel phones, and it was quite interesting from the get-go. It was able to show you how much battery is left in your phone, and the devices that are connected to it. As you may have guessed, this new feature doesn’t come via an app update, or an OS update. It is, actually, a part of the Settings Services v1.1.0.476812811.sr. Do note that this feature also seems to be under testing at the moment. 9to5Google reports that they’ve been able to get this feature on Android 13 QPR1 beta build, but not the stable version of Android. So, it seems to be a beta feature for the time being. You can see the widget in the two images below. It would be nice if this feature actually worked for all connected devices, but we’re aware of why that may not be possible. Well, it may be possible for Google’s own accessories, but for everything else, such estimations are a bit more complicated.
This feature may arrive with the next Pixel Feature Drop
Now, the source presumes that this feature will roll out to the stable build soon. It is expected to be a part of the next Pixel Feature Drop, so we shouldn’t have to wait long. There is no guarantee it will be, though, so keep that in mind. This is not a big change by any means, but it sure is a welcomed one. Well, if you like to keep track of your battery at all times, that is. Some people will definitely be put off by the idea, that’s for sure. The Pixel 6 has been having some battery life issues since the Android 13 update, so this feature may come in handy. It would be nice to see Google fix those problems as soon as possible, though, of course.
